RACA 2 aims to…

• Support participation, learning and attainment in the creative arts for pupils through a two-year programme of interaction with professional community artists
• Increase attainment in an arts subject by at least one grade over the course of the project and to influence GCSE option choices to include an arts subject
• Raise aspirations to include further study and provide knowledge of creative arts career paths through the use of learning mentors, signposting agencies and visits to HE and FE institutions providing arts courses
• Contribute to staff members' Continuing Professional Development through a programme of staff development events focussing on processes used in the creative arts, and existing (and potential) arts-based career development paths

The following is proposed for pupils who participate in the full length of the project

Support for pupils to produce personal and collaborative work which demonstrates:

• Expertise in the techniques of the art form
• Originality in process or execution
• Creative solutions to problem solving
• Progression over the life of the project

Giving structured performance and ‘sharing’ opportunities to improve:

• Communication and performance skills
• Self -esteem
• Ability to modify/control behaviour

Organising a summer school to:

• Allow for a meaningful immersion in art practice to support the weekly sessions throughout the project

Raising aspirations to include further study:

• Influencing GCSE option choices to include an arts subject
• Running a dedicated peer-mentoring programme
• Running a series of workshops and taster days at HE and FE institutions
• Provide clear progression route to institutions which specialise in the chosen art form
